Welcome to Lucy Clark counselling

Hello, and a very warm welcome to my website. I’m Lucy, a qualified trauma-informed, Person-Centred counsellor offering one-to-one counselling sessions for adults navigating life’s challenges.
I work with adults (18+) face-to-face, online, or on the telephone, offering flexibility and accessibility to those seeking support.

Life can feel overwhelming, and at times, we may feel stuck. Whether you’re trying to process past experiences or coping with something that has happened recently, you don’t have to carry it on your own. I offer a supportive space to help ease the weight and make things feel more manageable.

If you’re here, you’ve already taken an important step. Together, we can explore what matters most to you, with care, patience, and respect. You don’t have to have all the answers before you begin – and whatever brings you here, all of you is welcome.

It’s completely natural to feel unsure or apprehensive about reaching out for counselling. Here, you’ll find a gentle, supportive space to slow down, be heard, and begin to find your way forward

Why I became a counsellor

I have always been deeply drawn to understanding people – their emotions, experiences, and the stories that shape them. Through my own life journey, I’ve come to appreciate the power of being truly heard and understood. This passion led me to train as a person-centred counsellor, where I now have the privilege of walking with others through their challenges.

A Safe and Compassionate Space for You

Warmth, empathy, and authenticity are at the heart of my practice. I offer a non-judgmental and confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly at your own pace. Life can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, relationships, or other challenges, I am here to walk alongside you.

I believe that you are the expert of your own life. Your needs will lead our sessions, moving at a pace that feels right for you. My role is not to direct or advise you but to support you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and developing the tools you need to live a more fulfilled life.

A significant portion of my work has been dedicated to supporting clients who have experienced various forms of sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to the highest ethical standards and guidelines to ensure safe and professional practice.

🏳️‍🌈 My practice is an inclusive, affirming space where LGBTQIA+ individuals are met with respect, care, and compassion. Whether you’re exploring who you are ~ your identity, your story, your struggles, or your joy ~ or healing from experiences where you haven’t felt seen, you are welcome here, just as you are.

I have worked with clients who present with a range of mental and emotional challenges including:

Trauma & PTSD

Domestic abuse

Abusive behaviours

Managing anxiety & panic attacks

Depression & low mood

Self-esteem & self-worth issues

Relationship difficulties & attachment wounds

Reducing stress

Enchancing emotional well-being

Grief & loss

Identity & self-discovery

Life transitions & personal growth

While I’ve outlined areas where I can offer support, I understand that life’s challenges rarely fit neatly into predefined categories. Each person’s experience is unique, with different aspects of life often intertwining in unexpected ways. No matter what you’re facing, you will be met with compassion, understanding, and respect.

I think the most beautiful thing in the world is watching the light come on in someone’s eyes after they’ve been in the dark for so long

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel nervous or apprehensive. The first session is really about getting to know each other and making sure you feel safe, heard, and supported.

Here’s what usually happens:

A Gentle Introduction
We’ll begin by talking through what counselling is and how I work. I’ll explain things like confidentiality – what you share stays private, with a few legal exceptions that I’ll go over clearly.

Making a Plan Together
We’ll look at practical things like how often we’ll meet, how long sessions are, and what to do if you ever need to cancel or reschedule.

Your Story, in Your Time
You’ll have space to talk about what’s brought you here. There’s no pressure to go into everything straight away – we’ll go at your pace. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not yourself, this is your time to explore what matters to you.

Questions Are Welcome
You’re welcome to ask me anything about the counselling process, how I work, or anything else that helps you feel more comfortable.

This first session is also a chance for you to get a sense of whether I’m the right fit for you. A strong, trusting relationship is at the heart of the therapeutic process, and that starts with feeling safe and respected.

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of my practice. Every session is conducted with the utmost discretion, ensuring that your personal information and the details you share are kept completely private. I adhere strictly to professional ethical guidelines and data protection regulations which means there are a few specific circumstances where I might need to breach confidentiality – for example, if I’m concerned that you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. I’ll always aim to talk this through with you first, whenever possible. We’ll cover this fully in our first session so you know exactly where you stand.

I offer support for a broad range of concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, grief, and personal growth. Whether you’re dealing with everyday life pressures or more complex emotional struggles, I’m here to help you navigate through them with understanding and care.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for a compassionate space to explore your thoughts and emotions, therapy might be a great step for you. Many clients have found that engaging in regular sessions helps them gain clarity, build resilience, and foster personal growth. If you’re uncertain, please consider scheduling a free initial consultation to discuss how therapy can support you on your journey.

Yes. I offer reduced-fee sessions for NHS workers, members of the emergency services, and people receiving benefits.
If this applies to you, feel free to reach out – I’ll be glad to discuss the options available.
